At the Kromeříž castle we welcomed students of restoration school in Brno. With Kateřina Fajtlová, curator of the music archive and the castle library, the future restorers got acquainted with the music archive. They talked about how we preserve manuscripts, how we select them for extensive restoration work and had fun with the possibilities of digitisation.
With Jiří Miláček, depository manager and documenter of the Archdiocesan Museum Kroměříž, they then went to the castle premises, where they were shown all the pitfalls of caring for cultural monuments in a historical building. And with conservator Tomáš Guľaš in the restoration workshop, they showed practical examples of what things on paper have to go through before they reach the digitisation line.
