Conference Loaded - Open: Digitization of Art Collections

The Olomouc Museum of Art cordially invites you to the conference Loaded - Opened. Digitization in memory institutions in practice.The conference will take place on 11 October 2023 in the Auditorium of the Museum of Modern Art (Denisova 824 /47, 779 00 Olomouc).

It is the final conference of the international project Loaded - Open (2021 - 2024) funded by the EEA and Norway Grants 2014 - 2021, Culture Programme.

The project aims to make movable cultural heritage accessible to the public through digitization and interactive online tools, thereby strengthening its management and business opportunities in culture.

The final conference will focus on sharing examples of good and bad practice in the field of digitisation of paper-based collections as well as their subsequent presentation to the public. The individual contributions will thus cover a wide range of topics. We will focus both on the preparation phase of the museum or gallery for digitization and the actual implementation of the project within the framework of the regular operation of the institution. The conference participants will be acquainted not only with the technical building of the digitization line (hardware, software), but also with the conservation and restoration preparation of collection objects for digitization. We will also focus on the workflow of the digitization process, which we will present from two perspectives: 1. internal digitization in cooperation with the library; 2. cooperation with an external company (digitization as a service).

An integral part of the program will be the issue of long-term archiving of digital documents and their presentation to the public.
