Nataša Mikšič Cimra - Scannerist at the Olomouc Museum of Art

Natasha, introduce yourself briefly..

My name is Nataša Mikšič Cimra and I've been working as a scanner for over a year.

When I was looking for a job, I saw an advertisement offering a position as a scanner. I didn't know exactly what the job would entail, but I decided to give it a try.

What does your typical work day look like?

Once everything is ready to start the work process, I prepare the books I will be scanning that day. I write them down in a program that allows other colleagues to see where the book is in the scanning process. Then I start scanning.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The variety and diversity of the books that I scan, the way they are scanned, the books showing different graphics and also the uniqueness of some of the books. It is very important to handle the books properly and carefully. I feel that this is very crucial to my work.

Do you have a favorite memory related to your work?

A beautiful experience for me was scanning a book in Latin with golden side of the book.

What is your favorite piece of art?

Being from Slovenia, my favorite piece of art is the Ljubljana Triple Bridge by architect Josip Plečnik.
